Well, Well, Well! As I sit here wrapping up my second course, 5303 Applying Educational Technology Portfolio, for my master's degree in Digital Leading and Learning (DLL) I reflect on the growth that I've made throughout these five short weeks. Let me back track for a second to my first course, 5302 Concepts of Educational Technology, where I learned about Dr. Carol Dweck's profound knowledge of the growth mindset. This knowledge has set the stage for my thinking as I continue through the DLL program and the rest of my life for that matter. Basically, I need to remind myself that I am a work in progress and that I may not know how to do something right now but with the right mindset I CAN and WILL learn it Yet... The Power of Yet. Go watch my presentation, Growth Mindset, to provide you more insight on what that really means.

I’m very excited to have started my electronic portfolio this year. About 6-months ago a position opened up in my district for a classroom technology designer and boy was I interested. Let me explain why I wanted this position – I need to take you back to the year 2015 when my colleagues and I wanted to implement a flipped classroom with our 6th grade math students. Our principal was on board with this idea and provided us with various professional development resources so we could figure out how to make this happen. Unfortunately, the idea of flipping the classroom fell to the way side since we struggled with the technology portion. Well, as the year went by I took it upon References:
What is ownership? I found this definition from US Legal’s website: “Ownership is the legal right to the possession of a thing. The object of ownership can be tangible such as personal property and land or it can be intangible such as intellectual property rights over musical, literary or scientific creations of the mind.” https://definitions.uslegal.com/o/ownership/ After reading the legal definition of ownership, I would answer my first question above with “I do”. The best comparison I can think is your house, if you own one that is. After you buy your house you move in and decorate it, paint the walls, arrange landscaping, or maybe even remodel it and why do you do this? You do this to make this YOUR home and have it reflect who
An ePortfolio is an electronic version of a portfolio. A portfolio is a collection of work showing evidence of ones learning, writing samples, and creativity. These could be demonstrated in many digital formats such as text, pictures, and video. When creating an ePortfolio one should use the COVA model (choice, ownership, voice, and authenticity) as this gives the owner a unique and authentic way to showcase their learning. Remembering to make meaningful connections.
Well at first, until the last course anyway, I didn't even know what an ePortfolio was and as I began creating mine I researched the internet for examples so I could get ideas on how others looked so I could build mine. Dr. Harapnuik provided many examples on his website to include those whom already completed the DLL program, fellow teachers, principals, professors, and many more. I enjoyed looking at many of them as it allowed my mind to wander and think about what stood out to me from ePortfolio to ePortfolio.
